Work-Based Learning

A short-term, unpaid, work experience that exposes students to realistic job situations.

Students participating in a mentorship will report to a business site in place of their class time to increase their training and demonstrate their skills to prospective employers. Giving employers the opportunity to help students grow in their skills while also having the ability to “groom” a potential employee.

Students are covered under the BAISD’s Liability insurance while on a mentorship placement.

Employer-sponsored training program leading to a transferable certification from the U.S. Department of Labor.

An apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation of a profession with on-the-job training and often some accompanying study. Most of their training is done while working for an employer who helps the apprentices learn their trade or profession, in exchange for their continued labor for an agreed period after they have achieved measurable competencies.

A long-term, paid, work experience for second year students.

Similar to a mentorship, students will report to a work site that is relevant to their field of study, in place of attending their career center class. Internship placements allow students to work while continuing to learn essential skills in their career industry.

While on internships, students are covered by the employer’s liability insurance.

Graduates of the Bay-Arenac ISD Career Center are able to utilize job placement services such as resume assistance and mock interviews.
In addition, coordinators are available to assist with full and part time employment opportunities and referrals.
